THE PRIORAT
The Priorat is a region on the south of Catalonia, in Spain known for his wines. The capital of this region is Falset (indicated on the map).
Priorat is one of the oldest regions and with more personality of Catalonia. In the Middle Ages was known as the region of the Scala Dei's Priorat because there was a Cathusian order.
The territory that in those ages contained Priorat it is known nowadays as the Historical Priorat or the Scala Dei Carthusian's Priorat and there are exactly eight villages: Bellmunt del Priorat, Gratallops, la Morera de Montsant (including Escaladei), Porrera, Poboleda, Torroja del Priorat, la Vilella Alta i la Vilella Baixa, que és el Priorat del què parlarem en aquesta pà gina web, juntament amb Falset, la capital de comarca.
